Betrayal-book review
Betrayal
Where the Heart Lives series book 2
by Robin Lee Hatcher
About the book:
It's the turn of the twentieth century and drifter Hugh Brennan is a man well acquainted with betrayal. Hugh finds himself drawn to the attractive widow, Julia, yet when he looks into her eyes, he recognizes the same hurt that haunts him. Julia Grace has little reason to trust men, but she's going to have to trust someone if she's to keep her ranch from the clutches of her dead husband's half-brother. Is it possible God had a hand in bringing Hugh to her door? The latest historical romance from award-winning author Robin Lee Hatcher and the second book in the Where the Heart Lives series, Betrayal will take you to the high desert of western Wyoming, through the crags of the Rocky Mountains, and into the hearts of two seekers learning to trust God's love no matter the circumstances.
My Review:
Hugh Brennan is traveling through Wyoming when he ends up on Julia Grace's cattle ranch. They agree to an exchange-work for food and board-until after the cattle drive. But somewhere along the way the two who have been hurt deeply by people in the past find God's love which restores all hope for a better future.
This book is a lot like many others. It has romance, a villain, a bit of mystery, and the faithfulness of a good and loving God. The thing that sets this book apart from the others is author Robin Lee Hatchers amazing writing. The scenery and the characters are easily envisioned and liked. I have not read the first book in the series, which did not pose a problem for understanding the story, although I suppose it would add to it.
The message Robin Lee Hatcher is portraying in this story is that of God's amazing and restoring love. So many people have been hurt deeply by others and find it hard if not impossible to forgive, love, and move on. The story here is very encouraging and will uplift your spirit to seek all that God has in store for you.
